Skin Care Editor’s Choice – High Eye-Q, Anti-Wrinkle Cream

Excellent Eye Cream

The skin care experts at Pure MD are passionate about their users having awesome skin. Their mission is to help their users understand the quality ingredients matter. With the perfect balance of natural botanical and organic extracts and modern science they have come up with an impressive skin care line. Their products are  packed  with the  newest, high quality effective ingredients to address everything from again skin, to rosacea, acne and more.

Recently the Pure MD sent us their High Eye-Q, Anti-Wrinkle Cream  which retails for approximately $98 USD. Our skin care review staff was very impressed and give it the thumbs up for quality ingredients, and seeing noticeable improvement after using it. It looks great with or without makeup giving a natural youthful appearance around the eyes, combating those fine lines and crow’s feet.

The price might be high for some however the difference in the reviewers  skin  we saw  around the eyes when using it justified the cost. This is especially true if we compare it to comparable products that also show as dramatic results such as the eye creams from Chanel, La Mer, Guerlain, Chantecaille,  Amore Pacific, Sisley Sisleya, Orlane, Kanebo, La Prairie and Cle de Peau. All comparable products retail for $170 to $1000 much more than Pure MD. Our Skin Care Editors feels Pure MD, High Eye-Q, Anti-Wrinkle Cream  is worth the price and is an excellent product.

EVO Ritual Salvation Shampoo & Conditioner Review

EVO Ritual Salvation Shampoo & Conditioner ReviewEvo sent a box of complimentary products to review for our editors. One of the items in the box was Evo Ritual Salvation Shampoo and Conditioner. I tried it for a week and it just didn’t work on my fine long hair. So, to not let it go to waste, I decided to give it to a girlfriend who has very short, processed bleached hair. Weeks prior she explained that due to bleaching her hair for years, it was very dry and she needed moisturizing products to improve the condition of her hair  and asked for some recommendations. At the time I didn’t have any however when, Evo Ritual Salvation Shampoo & Conditioner, didn’t work on my long fine hair because it weighed it down too much giving it a heavy feeling decided it might be perfect for her or anyone who has over processed hair.

After further research on Amazon’s online reviews, I discovered several other women who had short processed hair in need of moisturizing shampoo and conditioner recommend Evo. They were raving about Evo Ritual Salvation Shampoo and Conditioner.

After a couple of weeks of my girlfriend using it I asked her opinion and like several others online she raved about Evo Ritual Shampoo and Conditioner  and will be purchasing some more once the samples are used. Thanks Evo for sending the products for our editors to review. Even though it  didn’t work for my very fine hair no-volume hair, it was ideal for my girlfriend with bleached blond hair who was in need of a moisturizing shampoo to improve the condition of her hair..

Evo Water Killer Dry Shampoo Review

Evo Water Killer Dry Shampoo ReviewDry Shampoo is a lifesaver with someone with fine long hair. However, dry shampoos can be frustrating as well. This is due to a packaging design flaw by most brands. I found, shortly after purchasing a can of dry shampoo, and using it a few times, the nozzle would clog and make it unusable. Tresemme was the worst brand for clogging problems. I bought over 7 cans of Tresemme and they all clogged shortly after purchase. I nearly gave up using dry shampoos because of this packaging flaw.  I was starting to feel skeptical as to if the same thing would happen to any and all brands on the market. Then the brand Evo contacted me to see if I would like to try some of their products.  They sent me a package of complementary products. I was surprised to discover that they make a dry shampoo. I have used it now for over 3 three months and have yet to have the nozzle clog.  Finally, I found a company that understands my concerns regarding the nozzle clogging.  The dry shampoo is excellent. I prefer it over Tresemme and Pssssst Instant Shampoo.  It worked better on my fine hair giving it a clean and full body feeling. I admit I would have not even known Evo products were on the market if they didn’t contact me and send me complimentary samples and I am really grateful that they did. I would like to thank Evo  for making a dry shampoo that has a nozzle that doesn’t clog and works excellent on long, straight fine hair. I give you two thumbs up for your product.

Amarte Eyeconic an Excellent Eye Cream

Recently, a Korean company, Amarte, sent us a complimentary eye cream from their line called, Eyeconic, for us to review. It is an anti-wrinkle  cream for rejuvenating and protecting the delicate skin around the eyes. I give it two thumbs up and love using it. I really did see a difference using it.

It was the first eye I cream packaged with a built in applicator that I have ever seen. At first I thought this was another gimmick. My pinky finger could apply the cream better, however, after two weeks of use I started to really like the applicator and thought it was a great added feature. After three weeks of use, I honestly did see a difference in my eyes and will probably keep purchasing, Seoul amerte Eyeconic, once the complimentary bottle is used up.

Amarte Eye Cream Review

I  am in my late 30’s and noticed natural aging of the skin. While living in sunny Orange County, California and spending a lot of time outdoors participating in sports, tends to be very hard on my skin. I also  have a busy business life and an active toddler making me lack sleep. My skin does take a beating, especially around my eyes. The regular use of, amerte Eyeconic, made my skin around my eyes seem youthful and didn’t make them so tired looking.

Ingredients Include: Water, Glycerin, Argania Spinosa (argan) Kernel Oil, Retinol 3.8%, Butylene Glycol, Cetyl Alcohol, Adenosine, Allantoin, Elemental Sulfur, Human Oligopeptide-1 (EGF 2-nano), Ginkgo Biloba Nut Extract, Myristica Fragrans (nutmeg) Kernel Extract, Syzygium Aromaticum (clove) Seed Extract, Eucalyptus Alba Leaf Extract, Citrus Paradisi (grapefruit) Seed Extract, Arginine, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Caprylic/capric Triglyceride, Carbomer, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Lauric Acid, Glyceryl Stearate/PEG-100 Stearate, PEG-40 Stearate, Self-emulsifying Glyceryl Monostearate, Disodium EDTA, and Phenoxyethanol.

This product retails for $50 to $55 for 20ml. The ingredients include a gentle form of retinol. I found it safe for sensitive eyes and easy to use under makeup. It was so good for my skin that now I am interested in trying the entire, Amerte line, which includes, Daily Wonder, a facial cleansing foam and a hybrid cleanser/toner. They also have a Daily Exfolipowder which is from a refined plant used for daily exfoliation. Aqua Veil is a facial moisturizer and Hydrolift is a retinol cream for reducing wrinkles. Lastly, they have a Wonder Cream for lightening freckles or sunspots and  Natural Finish which is a BB Cream .

Zim’s For Feet Max-Freeze a Refreshing Spray for Tired Feet

Zim’s For Feet Max-Freeze a Refreshing Spray for Tired FeetAt the height of 5.9 with shoe size of 7 ½, my feet take a pretty good beating and I am always looking for products to ease the pain from being on my feet. I am often standing all day or wearing uncomfortable heels. Zim’s recently sent a complimentary bottle of their Feet Max-Freeze for us to review. It worked nicely to refresh my tired feet with a light cool feeling. It isn’t too strong, it’s greaseless, won’t stain your clothing or beading and doesn’t have a strong scent. It sprays on smoothly and no rubbing is needed. The ingredients includes organic ilex, aloe, and arnica, vitamin E and tea tree oil.

I personally like using Zim’s For Feet Max-Freeze on my feet before falling asleep. I also enjoy sometimes using it for temporary muscle aches and joint pain such as my back, knees and wrists. I would recommend Feet Max-Freeze for those who want a light relief for tired feet. This product is ideal for those who don’t like a strong cooling feeling and or bad scents like some competing products have.

Hairspray Reviews

hairspray reviews for fine hair

WHAT ARE THE BEST HAIRSPRAYS ON THE MARKET?

Finding the top hairsprays is always a challenge. If you have fine, curly, thick, thin, coarse, or need volume hairspray. Advertisements will claim they are the Holy Grail to your hairstyle needs. We end up purchasing them from the claims in advertisements and wording on the label discovering it just doesn’t cut it and hope the next one we purchase will be better.

Today’s styles need a top hairspray that hold, give volume but yet look natural. This is a far cry from the 80s and 90s where firm hold hairspray brands such as Aqua Net or Joico JioMist Maximum Hold was important.

I personally have struggled, even with tons of beauty product research, a father who does hair for a living to find the best hairspray on the market for the last five years. This all changed when I discovered Kerastase Resistance, Double Force. As most Kerastase products, Resistance, Double Force is pricey but worth it. It works great on my fine hair whiling not weighing it down and giving my locks some volume..

Below are the worst and best hairspray purchases I have made.

Advanced Laser and Light Technology

With so many skincare products and topical treatments available to treat skin disorders, it can feel like there isn’t a solution that’s working. Now, more than ever, advanced technology is playing a huge role in how we protect our skin with light therapies, lasers and injected solutions.

At Advanced Skincare Surgery and MedCenter with locations in Burbank and Fullerton, CA, finding solutions is all a part of what they do. The team at Advanced utilizes innovative laser technology along with the highest quality topical treatments to improve the overall look of their patients skin.
Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT) is one of the treatments used at the MedCenter to effectively target acne-causing bacteria. This painless, easy and safe treatment can be used in combination with lasers and light technology to clear most moderate inflammatory acne. In as little as eight sessions, this non-invasive alternative can provide a lifetime of confidence.
Overtime, sun exposure can lead to harmful effects that leave skin looking damaged. Although sunscreen can help prevent sun damage and keep skin looking healthy and fresh, some effects can be irreversible. Advanced Skincare Surgery and MedCenter offer cosmetic and laser treatments that address skin needs to enhance overall complexion. The Erbium laser is designed to eliminate sun damage spots, lines and wrinkles on the face, hands, neck and chest.
More serious skin conditions, such as psoriasis, eczema and chronic itching can also be treated through laser therapy. The Excimer laser safely and effectively treats these skin diseases by precisely targeting high doses of ultraviolet light directly on the inflamed area of the skin.
This innovative laser is also effective in repairing scarring on the face and body. White scars can be significantly reduced and fine layers of surface material can be removed through Excimer laser therapy. Treatment time is as little as five minutes with six to 10 treatment sessions for mild to moderate conditions.
Not all laser treatments focus on skin diseases, but instead concentrate on the skin conditions that were caused due to poor decision making such as the RevLite laser for tattoo removal. This laser is used to gently erase and diminish the appearance of tattoos with low risk of scarring. Like other lasers, the RevLite uses an intense beam of light to progressively fade ink with multiple treatment sessions based on the size and color of the tattoo. Removing professional, amateur or traumatic unwanted tattoos has never been more accessible.
Advanced Skincare Surgery and MedCenter offers a wide range of laser therapy treatments for skin diseases and disorders. The MedCenter is recognized as one of the most comprehensive skin care treatment centers offering clinical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, plastic surgery and histopathology laboratory services.

Take Control of Your Underarm Sweat

underarm sweat issuesSure, everyone sweats. It’s normal after a hard workout at the gym or a day at the beach. But when sweaty armpit stains appear at work or during a date, it’s just embarrassing. There are even some people who go to great lengths to hide their underarm stains, constantly worrying about what to wear and avoiding social gatherings just to conceal their sweaty situation.

“Underarm sweat was always on my mind. Everything that I did, I’d worry about what I was going to wear. Even at my best friend’s wedding, I was trying to convince her that her bridesmaids’ dresses should be black so it would hide my sweat,” said Allison Benitez, from New Hampshire.

Most people are not aware of available treatment options beyond antiperspirants. Even medications and prescription antiperspirants provide only temporary relief and are largely ineffective. However, there is an in-office procedure available that provides a lasting reduction in underarm sweat.

The miraDry Procedure, cleared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, delivers energy noninvasively to the sweat gland area under the arm, and creates targeted heat to destroy and eliminate the glands. Because sweat glands do not regenerate, results that are seen immediately after the treatment can be expected to last. Two treatments, spaced three months apart are recommended for optimal results.  Studies have shown patients treated with the miraDry Procedure experienced an average sweat reduction of 82 percent.

“After the miraDry Procedure, a lot of things changed in my life. I’m not as self-conscious as I used to be and I’m more confident. It’s wonderful,” said Allison.

Salon Industry Unites to Help Raise Awareness and Stop Domestic Violence During Domestic Violence Awareness Month

top makeup blogOctober marks Domestic Violence Awareness month and highlights an issue that continues to affect countless women, men and children. Salon owners across the country have come together to participate in the Professional Beauty Association’s CUT IT OUT: Salons Against Domestic Abuse and the CUT IT OUT Give The Power Back Drive to help raise awareness and funding to stop domestic violence.

Salon professionals in particular have the extraordinary opportunity to give hope and help to clients and co-workers who are in abusive relationships. While cutting and styling hair and performing other salon services, salon professionals can see injuries on their clients that otherwise might be hidden.  Salons offer clients a safe, confidential space to share intimate life details that wouldn’t regularly be shared.  Similarly, the bond between stylists and their clients is sacred and provides the perfect opportunity to facilitate help for victims of domestic abuse.

CUT IT OUT builds awareness through complimentary display materials and trains salon professionals to recognize warning signs of abuse and safely and confidentially help clients, colleagues, friends and family find local resources for help.  While showcased in October during Domestic Violence Awareness month, materials can be ordered for free and displayed any time as CUT IT OUT is an ongoing effort that provides year-round support to salon professionals and their clients.

CUT IT OUT’s Give The Power Back Drive is an opportunity for salon owners and beauty professionals to host a fundraiser of their choice during October to highlight how domestic violence is still an issue that affects many. Fundraising suggestions include donating tips, donating a percentage of sales, donating a percentage of each service, and/or soliciting donations from clients.  Again, donations are taken year-round and are used to help grow and expand the resources of this program.  Participation is simple and can help save a life.

Pins with purple awareness ribbons from Great Clips®, a premium sponsor of the CUT IT OUT program, are also available and can be sold as an additional way to raise funds. PBA recommends participants donate 50 percent of the money raised to a local domestic violence resource/shelter and 50 percent to CUT IT OUT. Those who cannot participate in October can still donate directly to CUT IT OUT throughout the year.

To help beauty professionals and salons in their fundraising efforts, CUT IT OUT will provide a complimentary “marketing toolkit” upon registration with a customizable press release, flyer and donation cards to help market efforts to their clientele and the community. Complimentary CUT IT OUT posters and safety cards are also included, which can be displayed in the salon and include the national domestic violence hotline number for those affected by domestic violence to call for help.

If you or your salon would like to learn more or register, visit www.probeauty.org/endabuse or email CUTITOUT@probeauty.org. The Great Clips® pins, made of high quality steel and available in gold or silver can be ordered by calling 800-999-5959 or emailing petra.lawrence@greatclips.com. Pins are $1 and Great Clips will pay for shipping. No order minimum.
